ANALYSIS OF RADIO WAVE PROPAGATION OVER PAMEUNGPEUK-BANDUNG DISTRICT COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT AND ITS RELATIONS WITH CONDITION OF IONOSPHERE

In this paper we discuss relation between 9 channel of Pameungpeuk-Bandung HF Radio communication circuit and ionosphere. The objective is to determine the dependence of the successful use of frequency channels in the circuits to the ionospheric variations. The success of communication is observed by the Automatic Link Establishment (ALE), and the ionospheric data is observed by using ionosonda IPS51 in Pameungpeuk (7.65°S, 107.96°E). As case study we use the data observed on June 2013. We concluded that 5 of 9 channels that can be used for 24 hour intervals, which are the frequency of 3.596 MHz, 7.0495 MHz, 7.102 MHz, 10.1455 MHz, 14.109 MHz. Four other channels cannot be used because it is too high so that a layer of the ionosphere is not capable of reflecting it. Frequency of 3.596 MHz channel can be used optimally at night because of the influence of the ionospheric absorption rate is higher during the day than it was during the nighttime. The frequencies of 7.0495 MHz, 7.102 MHz, and 10.1455 MHz can be used during the day because it is associated with an increase of ionospheric electron density during the day. The frequency of 14.109 MHz can still be used during the night due to the possibility of reflection by Sporadic-E layer with a value of foEs approximately 13 MHz. The frequencies of 18.106 MHz, 21.096 MHz, 24.926 MHz, and 28.146 MHz could not be used because it is too high compared to the maximum frequency of the ionosphere. All these facts show that the successful use of the radio communication district circuit of Pameungpeuk-Bandung depend to the frequency changes of the ionospheric layer, the mainly is diurnal variation.
